The Chinese Cemetery

Today we trekked to the Chinese Cemetery, which has to be one of my favorite places so far in Manila. Other than the fact it was completely serene and separated from mayhem of Manila, there was nobody around except the 3 of us and a few dogs. Plus, a light drizzle made the atmosphere of being lost in a ghost down truly mesmerizing:

Anyways, when the Chinese die in Manila, they go all out…their mausoleums are complete with tombs, pictures, kitchens, flushing toilets, you name it. It’s like a small city of the dead, some of them with complete life stories inscribed within these “houses.” Anyways, I found this more interesting than Intramuros or Rizal Park, so definitely make some time for the Chinese Cemetery when you’re here. I’ll add a few more favorites to prove that I’m not just saying this because I’m Chinese:

We decided to take it easy on the feet today and explored Manila’s public transportation system on the elevated railways. They were clean and efficient, but packed as hell…highly recommended as one of the best ways to travel around Manila because the foot and vehicle traffic are god awful:

We finished up the day with a magnificent seafood meal by the Bay at Harbor View Restaurant. If I didn’t have to catch the bus to Banaue in an hour, I would give a review…but until next time…
