Magical Hampi

Hampi is a place that should be described visually, not with words. Or with music:

Press play. And then start reading.

I brought you something close to me,
Left for something you see though your here.
You haunt my dreams
There's nothing to do but believe,
Just Believe.
Just Breathe.

To get to the restaurant last night, I had to walk through a banana plantation

A nice ambiance at the Mango Tree restaurant

I wake up the next morning to see Lakshmi the elephant take a bath by the river:

Vittala Temple

A dog guards the ruins

Vittala Temple just got served

Crossing Hampi’s river

This monkey was carrying a pack of cigarettes in its mouth

Fitting 6 in an auto-rickshaw, India style: 50 rupees!

Lotus Mahal

Queen’s Baths

Elephant Stables

An ACTUAL banana leaf! with baby bananas.

Friends I’ve made at Hampi (from l to r): Fiona, Natasha, Holly and Claire

Tomorrow morning I’m catching a 6am train to Goa with 2 friends I made earlier this morning. Both are 30-something teachers, one from Scotland and the other from Ireland. When we realized we were all heading to Goa at the same time, we decided to get train tickets together. Let’s see how this all plays out…

- At time of posting in Hampi, India, it was 86 °F -

Humidity: 66% | Wind Speed: 24km/hr | Cloud Cover: Haze

Blessed by Lakshmi the elephant; Mugged by Rahul the monkey

  1. My eyes loved these pics! Great!

  2. And incredible balance! I’m always amazed when I see people able to do that.

I love all the pictures here! And for some reason I really like the one the most, even though it’s just a lamp in the dark…

  3. Awww Calvin! The pictures are beautiful. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
