It’s about to begin, again.

No rest for the weary.

A little preview of what we’re doing

Not even 3 days after unpacking from Hong Kong, I’m already repacking for 5 days in Mexico:

  • 2 short-sleeved shirts
  • 2 long-sleeved shirts
  • 2 pairs of pants
  • 4 pairs of underwear
  • 4 pairs of socks
  • 1 fleece
  • 1 sweatshirt
  • 1 krama
  • 1 pair of sneakers
  • a tool belt
  • a hammer
  • 1 camera
  • 1 flip camera

And what are we doing? WE’RE GOING TO BUILD A HEALTH CLINIC. That’s right, we’re heading to Mexico to build a community free clinic with our bare hands. By the 1st day we should be already putting up walls, and by the 2nd day you’ll see us working on the roof. And we’ll be liveblogging our progress. This should be an interesting departure from our usual sightseeing…we’re actually going to be productive this time.

The proposed health clinic we’ll build in 5 days

Anyway, given the insanity involved in medical school, few of us actually have taken the time to stop and reflect upon the task set before us. Our job is to construct in 5 days a free clinic that will serve a community of over 1,500 people. If you had told me back in October that I was going to do such a thing and asked to raise over $1700 for it, I would have been WTFoutofthisworldareyoukiddingme.

But reality has a funny way of sneaking up to you. And now it’s hitting me.

Stay in touch.
