Sights, Sounds, and Smells of Siem Reap

I took this video yesterday at, I believe, Preah Khan.

Sights: Ruins, Marvelous Tree, Khmer Architecture, Lush Vegetation, Really Colorful Butterflies

Sounds: Khmer Traditional Music being played just outside the complex, Birds, Rustling of Leaves.

It’s moments like these when I could never imagine sitting behind a computer all summer doing web management work.

[Except for right now… when I’ve been sitting behind this computer at an internet cafe for the past couple of hours uploading media and blogging… my body can’t take anymore of this!]

Last night we went to this buffet that was recommended to us by our Tuk-Tuk driver…

Sights: lots of foreigners and locals, musicians on stage (later dancers), plants and colorful decor inside a dark wooden building.

Sounds: Traditional Khmer music, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, some Germanic language at the table next to ours, and the sizzle of the grills by the buffet tables.

Smells: Delicious food of course! A slight smoky scent from the grills, egg and other fried items from the Vietnamese “Ban Xeo” showcase, and flowery perfume scents.

At the buffet restaurant that had been recommended to us by our Tuk-Tuk driver… after the initial Traditional Khmer Music performance, there were also various Traditional Khmer and Aspara dance skits. Here are a couple of them:

Right now… and really every single night (thankfully or unfortunately) one can always see a World Cup game playing on a television inside a bar or restaurant or hotel lobby and hear that obnoxious noise maker given to fans.

BTW, on the long road back to Siem Reap from Beng Melea. Calvin was sleeping and I watched people juice sugar cane as we drove by food stalls.
