This winter: MEXICO

Monsoon Diaries will be heading to Mexico this winter.

Tijuana, Mexico

My fellow medical students and I will be undertaking an international medical development project with an organization called One Small House. For the last 10 years, One Small House has built homes for various families on the outskirts of Tijuana, Mexico. But during the week of December 26, 2010 – December 31, 2010, we will be turning an empty plot of land into a full-functioning community health center that will serve the needs of poor residents of the area.

This new community health center will provide primary care, pediatrics, prenatal, and health education services for free to 1,500 poor families of the local community.

Of course, Monsoon Diaries will be regularly updated with pictures and updates of our build, as well as our exploration of the local area.

…But we need YOUR help! Our build will be unique and interactive, in that all donors have the option to “purchase” a portion of the health clinic. You can buy a wall for $200, a window for $50 or plywood for $25. You buy it; we build it! If you cannot afford an entire section, all contributions go directly to building costs. No money is spent on administrative or overhead costs. $5 donated is $5 directly to providing a free health clinic for this community.

–HOW DO I DONATE?–

Either:

  • To the charity itself at www.onesmallhouse.org and using the secure PayPal service. ***PLEASE include MY NAME in the “Message to Merchant” box!!!!***

OR

OR

  • Send money directly to me (e-mail me for more details)!

All donations are fully tax deductible and will make a difference! The actual build in December will be streamed live via our website and Facebook. You can watch in real-time as the free health clinic you helped support is being built!

More updates to come!
